Pestana Hotels and Resorts is the largest hospitality group in Portugal.

Since its entry into the hotel sector in 1972, the group has expanded its ownership which today includes 65 Hotels in Europe, 10 in South America, and 7 in Africa, totaling 8,145 rooms.

In 1983, the group entered the holiday ownership sector and has developed and sold 8 resorts in Madeira and the Algarve with 23,000 members. Pestana also introduced this concept into its Brazilian hotel operations and today has 3,500 members. Besides hotel and holiday ownership, the group also has majority interests in 4 golf developments, a UK tour operator company, a charter airline and a Casino in Madeira.

The group has a turnover of USD$ 586 million in 2006.
