Nearly 79 years after starting to operate as an airline, Iberia Airlines of Spain is today the head of an international transport group that flies to some 100 airports in 40 countries and employs more than 25,000 people. In addition to transporting passengers and freight, Iberia carries out many related activities, such as aircraft maintenance, handling in airports and IT systems, iberia.com, Iberia's website, is Spain's busiest commercial website.

Together with its franchise airline, Iberia Regional/Air Nostrum, Iberia carried 32.4 million passengers in 2005. Last year, Iberia achieved net earnings of 396 million euros, a 95% increase from the previous year, to mark its 10th consecutive profitable year, a record unmatched by other scheduled airlines in the period.

Iberia is a member of the oneworld alliance along with seven other prestigious international airlines. After receiving antitrust immunity from the EU, Iberia and British Airways are working on an alliance that will bring major benefits to their customers and businesses.

Iberia is the leading carrier on routes connecting Europe and Latin America, using the new, state of the art, Madrid Barajas Airport Terminal 4 as its main hub. Iberia's new image is supported by the Business Plus and new Business Europa Classes, new uniforms, and the ongoing renewal of its medium haul fleet.
