A graduate in commerce (diplomkaufmann), as Chief Executive Officer Raimund Hosch has managed Messe Berlin GmbH in the German capital since 1999. From 1992 to 1999 Raimund Hosch was managing director of Messe Frankfurt GmbH. In terms of its turnover Messe Berlin is among the ten leading trade fair companies in the world. The halls on its inner-city exhibition grounds cover 160,000 square metres, with an additional outdoor area measuring 100,000 square metres, making this the fifth largest trade fair company in Germany. 70 per cent of its exhibitors come from abroad.
For Messe Berlin the last five years have been a success story. In stark contrast to the current trend, from 2001 to 2006 the company experienced high growth on the German trade fair market. Last year turnover rose to 169 million US dollars, an increase of 9 per cent. Current turnover for 2006 is 205 million US dollars, altogether a rise of 50 per cent in five years.
The latest trade fairs organised by Messe Berlin are: the international tourism event TheTradeShow in Orlando/ USA (September 2006, in collaboration with the American Society of Travel Agents), the ASIA FRUIT LOGISTICA in Bangkok (September 2007). Leading international trade fairs: the ITB International Tourism Exchange, IFA-Consumer Electronics Unlimited, FRUIT LOGISTICA - International Trade Fair for Fruit and Vegetable Marketing Berlin, IGW- the International Green Week Berlin, ILA- the International Aerospace Exhibition, InnoTrans-the International Trade Fair for Transport Technology.
