Armstrong Group (AG), a family-owned British Columbia business, is the owner and operator of Rocky Mountaineer Vacations (RMV), Gray Line West and other associated tourism and
hospitality businesses.
With a career spanning over 30 years in the travel and tourism industry, the principal owner and founder of AG is Mr Peter Armstrong. Under Mr Armstrong's leadership, the company has evolved from a small entrepreneurial dream to one of Canada's leading tourism providers.
Rocky Mountaineer Vacations is primarily known for operating Western Canadian tourist trains such as the renowned Rocky Mountaineer, which travels on three routes for two-days, during daylight hours between Canada's West and the Canadian Rockies as well as the new Whistler Mountaineer. Since its inception in 1990, the organization has grown to become North America's largest privately owned passenger rail operator and offers over 70 vacation packages. In 2008, RMV will celebrate a company milestone by hosting its one millionth guest onboard the Rocky Mountaineer train.
Armstrong Group has recently been honoured with several prestigious accolades. In 2007, the company received Tourism BC's Foresight Award for its leadership on sustainable tourism development and that same year, RMV was awarded with its most impressive designation - The World Travel Award as the "World's Leading Travel Experience By Train" for the third consecutive year. To be recognized with such a prestigious global award demonstrates that the organization is delivering on its vision of providing the most spectacular experiences in the world. Rocky Mountaineer Vacations also made the 2007 and 2008 annual 50 Best Employers in Canada list in the Globe and Mail's Report on Business magazine.
