TAP Portugal is the Portuguese leading airline, in operation since 1945 and member of Star Alliance since March 2005. Soon to complete 65 years (March 14th, 2010), the company has its hub in Lisbon, which is a key European gateway at the crossroads of the African, North & South American continents, where TAP stands out as the international leading carrier operating to Brazil.
The company's network covers 64 domestic and international destinations in 30 countries world-wide. In addition, customers are provided with an extended and high flexible choice to a greater range of destinations beyond TAP own system-wide network by means of code-share operations with a number of partner airlines. Currently, TAP operates over 1,850 weekly flights in average on a modern fleet of 56 Airbus aircraft, along with some 16 aircraft operating in PGA (TAP regional carrier) colors, adding up to a 72 aircraft fleet in the whole.
In the pursuit of its customer focused policy, TAP continuously strives to deliver safe, reliable and upgraded products & services, tailored to meet customers' expectations. Retaining the Portuguese character of its brand and quality service as the basic concept has been the main driver of TAP strategy in recent years.
Recognized and awarded by the World Travel Awards, in 2009, as the World's Leading Airline to South America, TAP was also honored by UNESCO and by the International Union of Geological Sciences with the IYPE "Planet Earth Award 2010", in the category of "Most Innovative Sustainable Product", in recognition of the achievements of TAP's Carbon Offset Program, the first one launched worldwide in partnership with IATA.
