The then Spanish Prime Minister, José Mariá Aznar, was present at the signing of an agreement between WTTC and EXCELTUR, an initiative which brings together private sector leaders to promote the cause of Travel & Tourism in Spain. The agreement was signed by Sir Ian Prosser, Chairman of WTTC and Xavier de Irala, Chairman of EXCELTUR, in Madrid on 27 January, 2003.

The two organisations will exhange economic data and research to support their respective missions. The agreement is an important step in WTTC's regional presence and will deepen our effectiveness in one of the foremost tourism economies of the world.
