The USA contributes almost one-third of the world's total Travel & Tourism GDP. WTTC increases its effectiveness in this huge market by working closely with the Travel Business Roundtable (TBR) and Travel Industry Association of America (TIA), which brings together leaders from all sectors of the industry.

Following the Department of Commerce commissioned report Restoring America's Travel Brand: A National Strategy to Compete for International Visitors and with the support of WTTC's US Members, a Manifesto was produced and launched in New York City on the 3 October 2006. In the Manifesto, WTTC puts forward its five recommendations for US Travel & Tourism in order to arrest and reverse the world market share loss which is currently starting to prevail. TBR and WTTC collaborated, using their international reach and influence, to ensure a postponement of US visa policy changes. As a result, the State Department decided to grant a postponement until October 26, 2004 for travelers from Visa Waiver Program (VWP) countries to have Machine Readable Passports (MRP) to enter the United States.
