International conference on Human Resources for China's Travel & Tourism industry

On January 16, 2008 the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) will hold on international conference on Human Resources for China's Travel & Tourism industry, taking place in Shanghai at the JW Marriott Hotel.
The issue
Globally the Travel & Tourism industry employs over 230 million people. Given the industry's huge investment and reliance on people and their fundamental role in the growth and success of the sector, one of its major concerns is the recruitment, training and retention of individuals at all levels. The phenomenal economic growth in the Chinese economy in recent years is generating the need for millions of new jobs to be created in the industry in the next few years. The HR issues related to this are a major challenge for both foreign and Chinese organizations. With the Beijing Olympics and Shanghai Expo in mind, WTTC has organized this conference to provide an opportunity for the wider Chinese professional community to showcase its achievements in the field of HR and to learn about successful and innovative HR policies and approaches employed by WTTC Members which are essential for the Travel & Tourism industry to reach its potential and fulfill its commitments to the many people its employs globally.
Objectives of the Conference
The Conference will provide a valuable opportunity for the emerging Travel & Tourism industry in China to demonstrate its achievements and success and gain an insight into the people development policies and ideas practiced by foreign organizations. Whether Chinese or foreign, the industry has an immense resourcing challenge in the coming years and this Conference is to extend the insight and knowledge or both yourself and our Members by providing a platform to share and exchange information.
