The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) works to raise awareness of Travel & Tourism as one of the world's largest sectors, employing 1 in 10 people and generating approximately 10.4% of global GDP.
We understand how important high quality economic data is for governments and policy makers to appreciate the potential of the Travel & Tourism sector. Measuring its size and growth and its contribution to society therefore forms the backbone of our mission. Each year, in partnership with Oxford Economics we produce a range of reports unrivalled in the sector. The bedrock of our research is our Economic Impact Reports which evaluates the economic contribution of Travel & Tourism in 185 countries, 25 economic regions and many of the world's largest cities.
Sustainable Development Goals
We actively supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We believe that the Travel & Tourism sector can play a vital role in achieving many of them. We work with our Members and Partners to develop businesses that have sustainability at their heart - managing scarce resources like water effectively, preserving natural environments, combatting climate change and providing secure livelihoods for millions of people. We also campaign to raise awareness of these issues with consumers, politicians and policy makers.
We work with organisations within the Travel & Tourism sector to promote growth and opportunity and to find solutions to the challenges facing our industry. Our key priorities include finding new ways to make travel as straight-forward and seamless as possible; helping the sector to grow in a sustainable, inclusive and environmentally conscious fashion; keeping travellers safe through appropriate security policies and identification technologies; helping countries recover after disaster; developing programmes to help the sector be better prepared in times of crisis.
