This research covers 65 cities worldwide, capturing the largest city travel destinations, whilst maintaining a balanced regional coverage. We cover 21 cities across the Asia-Pacific region, 17 cities in the Americas and 17 cities in Europe, and 10 cities across the Middle East and Africa.
Overall, 46 of the 65 cities in this analysis are based on official published tourism data. This includes a combination of city and regional level data. It is important to note that while city or regional level tourism data are published across the 46 destinations, they do not universally cover the core metrics (visits, nights, spend). Indeed, visitor arrivals is the most common published indicator. Therefore, additional assumptions are required to determine the full complement of tourism statistics.
The methodology document here provides detail on the Travel & Tourism and geographical definitions for each study in addition to the approach taken for the economic impact calculations.
