Methodology
This research covers 72 cities worldwide, capturing the largest city travel destinations, whilst maintaining a balanced regional coverage. We cover 22 cities across the Asia-Pacific region, 19 cities in the Americas, 21 cities in Europe, and 10 cities across the Middle East and Africa.
Overall, 52 of the 72 cities in this analysis are based on official published tourism data. This includes a combination of city and regional level data. It is important to note that while city or regional level tourism data are published across the 52 destinations, they do not universally cover the core metrics (visits, nights, spend). Indeed, visitor arrivals is the most common published indicator. Therefore, additional assumptions are required to determine the full complement of tourism statistics.
