Conservation Award Finalist
Stefano Cheli and Liz Peacock created Cheli & Peacock because they wanted to share their authentic safari experiences, while protecting what they loved most: Kenya’s striking landscapes and prolific wildlife. Operating ‘ecotourism’ long before it became a buzzword, Cheli & Peacock has been an innovator and leader in conservation initiatives and community revenue-sharing projects for over 26 years. Most of Kenya’s parks do not have fences, so wild animals are free to migrate within vast ecosystems that mostly incorporate private or community land. In order to sustain a positive relationship between the wildlife and people, Cheli & Peacock partners with and educates communities to understand the importance of conservation and how they can benefit from it. Cheli & Peacock maintains this support through local employment, fair and consistent land rent and financial contributions towards education facilities. With community involvement, understanding and support, Cheli & Peacock helps to ensure a sustainable futurefor Kenya’s conservation.
