Cesar Souza Junior was born in Floríanópolis and is 34 years old. He is a lawyer. He is specialized in Public Law and studied Public Politics at the Friederich Nauman Foundation, in Cologne, Germany.
Beginning in 2001, besides advocacy, Cesar was also involved in the areas of television and radio, for almost a decade, dealing especially with issues related to the defense of citizens' rights.
In 2006, he ran for a elective office, assuming the seat of state deputy. In the Legislative Assembly, he was a member of the Boards of Constitution and Justice, Culture, Education and Sport, and Tourism and the Environment. He also presided over the Permanent Parliamentary Forum of Azorean Culture.
In 2010, he was elected to the Legislative Assembly once again.
In January 2011, he assumed the head of the State Department of Tourism, Culture and Sport. He oversaw the first stage of the works for the Integrated Culture Center, Art Workshops and the CIC Cinema. In June, he inaugurated the Santa Catarina Museum of Art. In 2013, Cesar was elected mayor of Florianópolis.
