Degree in Law and a MBA by IESE. He is Chairman and CEO of OHL Desarrollos, division of the OHL Group specialized in the investment, development, operation and management of hotels and tourist resorts and real estate, particularly in the premium sector. Owner and operator of Mayakoba, a renowned and unique resort in the world, located at Playa del Carmen consisting of 250 hectares, with 3 top range and ranked hotels (one Rosewood, one Banyan Tree and one Fairmont, and an Andaz hotel under development) and the unique golf course El Camaleón, the only one outside the United States of America and Canada part of the PGA tournament. Thanks to its sustainability model, Mayakoba has received several international recognitions such us the Ulysses Award of the WTO, into the category “Business Innovation”, or the Rainforest Sustainable Award, both in 2011, as the first Tourist Development of Latin America to apply the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria.
Moreover, under his leadership, OHL Desarrollos is developing Ciudad Mayakoba, consisting of a 408 hectares for multi-segment real estate, with licenses to develop over 17,000 units. The project is being developed under high standards of sustainability and planning.
Through OHL Desarrollos, Mr. Pan de Soraluce is also co-investor and developer of the Canalejas Project, one of the largest hotel and real estate projects in Spain, for its symbolic nature, technical complexity and investment volume. The project consists in the acquisition of 7 buildings of extraordinary historical and architectural value in the heart of Madrid, covering over 70,000sqm, which will be transformed into the first Four Seasons hotel in Spain, 30 branded residences, an exclusive shopping center and a car park.
In addition, in December of 2015 OHL Desarrollos acquired, in consortium with co-investor, the 250-year leasehold of the Old War Office, 57 Whitehall in London, former Ministry of War of Great Britain during the I and II World War. The asset will be re-developed into a high-end international hotel with branded residences.
Mr. Pan de Soraluce has previously lead several hotel investment and development transactions, for instance the development and subsequent disposal of the W Hotel in Barcelona to Qatari Diar.
Mr. Pan de Soraluce is member of the United Nations World Travel Organization (UNWTO) Awards Jury.
