David Muñoz was born in Madrid in 1980. He showed an interest in cooking from a young age, and has long taken cues from his mentor, Chef Abraham García, owner of Viridiana. In fact, it was in this restaurant in Madrid that he discovered his calling when visiting it as a teenager along with his parents. After that experience, he joined Viridiana’s staff, followed by Nobu and Hakassan in London where he stayed for four years. In 2003 he returned to Madrid and opened his own restaurant; DiverXO, with the support of family and friends. He won his first Michelin Star in 2009 followed by the second one in 2011. The third Michelin star came in November 2013, bringing with it international recognition.
Ever since he started within the world of gastronomy, David has been working hard on his dream. There is only one rule to follow: never stop; there are no limits.
In 2014 he moved DiverXO to NH Collection Eurobuilding in a co-branding agreement between the hotel group and the chef. This new place features nearly 500 square meters in a single dining room with a private street entrance. This space gives David the flexibility to build on his creativity, curiosity and sometimes even madness.
He is a team player and is quick to thank all the members of his team for their work.
Moreover, StreetXO, a more casual street food concept, recently opened in a new location in Madrid (Corte Inglés. C/ Serrano 52) and is about to open in London, Mayfair as one of his most ambitious projects. David never stops creating, growing, dreaming, working. We are already looking forward to his upcoming projects both in Spain and further afield.
