Enrique de la Madrid Cordero has a degree in Law from the National Autonomous University of Mexico and Master in Public Administration from Harvard University.
He was appointed by President Peña Nieto as Minister of Tourism since August 2015.
From 2012 to 2015 Enrique de la Madrid served as CEO of the Mexico´s National Bank for Foreign Trade (Bancomext).
Before assuming as CEO of Bancomext, he served as Technical Coordinator of the Presidency of the National Banking and Securities Commission (NBSC) and CEO of Financiera Rural. He was Federal Deputy in the LVIII Legislature (2000-2003).
In business, De la Madrid Cordero was Executive Chairman of the Mexican Council of the Consumer Products Industry (ConMéxico) and Director of Institutional Relations and Corporate Communications of HSBC Mexico and Latin America.
In January 2015 he published his first book entitled “México en la Generación del Desarrollo” (Mexico in the Generation of Development) under the imprint of Debate / Random House. In the book, Enrique analyzes the achievements and comparative advantages of Mexico and he affirms the country can achieve development in this generation.
He is a weekly columnist at El Universal and has a weekly live participation on the radio for Primera Emisión de Enfoque, with Leonardo Curzio, and in TV, with Oscar Mario Beteta in Proyecto 40.
He has also been a columnist for Reforma and Milenio, as well as various newspapers of the Mexican Editorial Organization.
