To spur a new era of economic expansion in Texas, Governor Abbott presented a detailed Bicentennial Blueprint that helped drive a successful 84th Legislative Session. Accomplishments included cutting taxes to stimulate job growth, investing in infrastructure, education and border security, and expanding individual liberty and economic prosperity.
Travel and tourism are a significant segment of the Texas economy, and the nation’s top CEOs rank Texas as the best state for business. Texas also ranks first for business facility projects of $1 million or more, and for both foreign and domestic investments.
Last year, every advertising dollar invested in Texas tourism by Governor Abbott’s Economic Development & Tourism Division generated a seven-fold return.
Prior to his election as governor in 2014, Greg Abbott was the longest-serving Attorney General of Texas. He and his wife, Cecilia, have been married for 34 years. She is a former teacher and principal, and the first Hispanic First Lady of Texas. The Abbotts have one daughter, Audrey, a college student.
