Dr. T.P. Singh has more than three decades of work experience at a senior management level in natural resource management, administration, organizational leadership and human resource development. He joined the Indian Forest Service in 1979. Besides serving in various capacities under State Governments as well as the Federal Government of India, he has served as Senior Fellow in the Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) at New Delhi. He helped TERI set up a post- graduate research university (TERI University), which is imparting education in the fields of bioresources & biotechnology, energy and environment and regulatory and policy research, and served as its first Vice Chancellor.
Dr. Singh has served on several high level committees and task forces constituted by the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India. In addition he has served as lead author of reports prepared for the Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC); as an expert for the Intergovernmental Science Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES); and is the author of several national and international publications.
Dr. Singh holds two Masters Degrees, one in Botany and the other in Forestry. He is currently the Deputy Regional Director, Asia in the Asia Regional office of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and is responsible for leading a cohesive and integrated Programme of work for all of IUCN’s components (Members,Commissions and Secretariat) in the Asia Region.
